The Golden West Tour

This tour is very different in a number of ways. This will one of our Classic Drives. Tours that are designed for you to bring your classic car, not that you need a classic but the schedule is a bit more relaxed, the accommodation a bit more comfortable, the restaurants a bit more special. There will be time for more sight-seeing and I am working on a special wine tasting during the tour. Bring your better half, your favourite car and have a great time.
The Central West of NSW has so much going for it. Close to Sydney, wonderful scenery, some great hotels and restaurants, award winning wineries and a series of amazing roads that cry out to be driven, so it was a no brainer to put together a tour that celebrates the best that the region has to offer.
Day 1. – 320 Km
We kick the tour off from Windsor in Sydney’s north-west and take a loop through the foothills of the Blue Mountains before heading over the Blue Mountains to one of our favourite lunch stops. After lunch there is an amazing road through rolling hills that eventually has in Goulburn for the evening.
Day 2. – 250 Km
To start the day we will take back roads from Goulburn to Gunning where we pick up a series of little used roads through Crookwell and a string of tiny hamlets that a worth a look. Home for the night is a very special hotel in the heart of Orange, surrounded by restaurants in what has become the foodie capital of country NSW.
Day 3. – 300 Km
A fun day today as we take in the countryside between Orange and Bathurst before crossing the highway to take in some deserted roads that will take us through Portland that looks to be a throw-back to the 1950’s. There is then a short highway cruise before we head back into the hills before taking in one of the local wineries for a tasting. Home for the night is Mudgee where are local red and a steak is a very popular dinner choice.
Day 4. – 380 Km
The Bylong Valley out of Mudgee is one of the great secret locations of NSW, rich farmland set amongst amazing sandstone outcrops, it is one of the favourite locations that we visit each year. We then enter the upper reaches of the Hunter Valley where we pick up an interesting series of roads all the way back to our final stop on Sydney’s northern outskirts.

Cost of the 4 day tour is only $2,000/couple and includes very comfortable accommodation as well as a comprehensive roads book and Garmin Sat-Nav units to keep you on track.
