Day 4.
Arrowtown – ArrowtownAn easy day to enjoy Arrowtown, Queenstown and the local area. There is so much to see here that it would be a shame not to take a bit of time to explore. Tough decisions to be made today. Do you hit a little white ball around Millbrook or head back up the mountain to Cromwell for a visit to the Highlands Motorsport Park and then onto lunch at one of the local wineries where they produce the highly prized Central Otago Pinot Noir? Tough choice.
Day 5.
Arrowtown – Milford Sound 294KmThis is one of the best drives you can do anywhere in the world. Spectacular “Lord of the Rings” scenery and a wonderful flowing road along glacial valleys and over the peaks. Then to top off a memorable day. We are booked on an overnight cruise on Milford Sound, with Double Cabins on the Milford Wanderer. I believe that this could be the highlight of the tour.
Day 6.
Milford Sound – Invercargill 332KmAfter breakfast on the Wanderer we head back to shore and retrace that amazing drive back to Te Anau before we continue on towards the very south of the island at Bluff and then into Invercargill for the night.
Day 7.
Invercargill – Dunedin 242KmThere is some wonderful farmland just out of Invercargill that we traverse on our way to the Catlins, a beautiful well-kept secret corner of the South Island. There are waterfalls, lookouts and small coastal hamlets that we take in before hitting the main highway on our way into Dunedin. This is a beautiful city that has blossomed since the Christchurch earthquake.
Day 8.
