Melbourne to the Bend Tour

April 13, 2122

This tour takes in the best roads in Victoria. We do our best keep well away from the heavy traffic and the Highways and take you to some beautiful locations, great country pubs and a couple of special cafes. There is plenty of time for stops, which you will want so you can photograph this amazing country.

Bring your favourite car, the roads are all in good to great condition and bitumen all the way. 98 Octane is plentiful along the way and the roads will make you remember why you love your car so much.

Dinners are still being organised but will be in line with our mantra of “Great Roads – Good Bottle of Red – Soft Bed”.

Day 1.

We head out of Melbourne and head into the Yarra Ranges before heading south and the Strzelecki Ranges to the Mornington Peninsular and a great lunch on our way to Sorrento to catch the ferry to Queenscliff and our hotel for the night.

Day 2.

Today we tackle the Great Ocean Road. Yes, you can say it gets a lot of tourist and you probably have been here before, but you cannot deny that it is a wonderful drive with absolutely stunning scenery. In your favourite car this is always a fun day. Our home for the night is a lovely resort in Warrnambool.

Day 3.

Lots of new country for us today as we head further west to Port Fairy, Portland, the amazing Coonawarra and onto Robe in South Australia through a unique and fascinating landscape.

Day 4.

A shorter day today as we head north to Tailem Bend and what many describe as the best race track in the country, The Bend Motorsport Park offers a range of circuits up to 7.7 Km in length making it the 2nd longest permanent circuit in the world behind Nuburgring. We will have an opportunity to experience this amazing facility before retiring to the Rydges Pit Lane Hotel for the night.

Day 5. (Optional)

For those who feed the need for speed there is the opportunity to join a track day being organised by Up to 11. Or you could head just over an hour further west and take in the delights of Adelaide for the weekend or perhaps you can start the journey back to the eastern states, the choice is yours.
